Another shock and awe move from the newly reminted 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump:
During a joint press conference after a meeting with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House tonight, President Trump from out of the blue suddenly announced a very odd plan that at the same time seemed like the perfect solution to the Israel-Hamas-Palestine age-old bloody conflict: President Trump indicated that he wants the United States to take over the war-ravaged territory known as the Gaza Strip and that the displaced Palestinians should be resettled in Egypt, Jordan and elsewhere.
What that implies is the problematic piece of land that has been the home of Palestinian refugees from several previous wars and occupied by Israel since 1967 and also been governed by Hamas since 2006 will, if Trump gets his way, no longer be identified, aligned or controlled by either Israel or by Hamas or by anybody else but the USA. In the mind of "the Donald" that can mean only one thing: peace and prosperity to the region.
This amazing concept, one may argue, brings at least two immediate problems among many complicated ones: 1) while Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu sounded readily amenable, even excited, to the grandiose idea there's no telling Hamas and the Palestinian people would welcome or agree to it and; 2) just exactly how Trump will go about the daunting task that has no precedent in history only God knows.
But as expected staunch critics instantaneously denounced Trump’s rehabilition plan as an act of ethnic cleansing, delusional and unacceptable. Where this story eventually leads to is anybody’s guess.
(Food for thought: nothing happens by chance -- "The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD." Proverbs 16:33)
