MY TAKE: THE PROBABILITY OF GREENLAND JOINING THE U.S.A — IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!

If I were to bet I’d go all in with soon-to-be President Trump’s proposal to buy Greenland. Well, maybe not necessarily “buy” from Denmark but Greenland’s Prime Minister Egede’s overtures in the last few days to secede from Denmark as a “step” to “shape our future with regard to who we will cooperate closely with, and who our trading partners will be” clearly suggests to me that he and his countrymen are eager to join the greatest country in the world as the 51st State, with or without the blessing of Denmark.

What’s the deal? The deal is why negotiate with Denmark (which is complicated) when the US can work things out directly with the Greenlanders themselves -- that is, if Greenland does gain independence and becomes a new and sovereign nation. It would be simpler then for Trump and company to proceed with the 'purchase'. In any case the event would be a win-win situation for both parties. It begins with an immediate massive US 'cash investment for development' followed quickly by the arrangements for huge economic, social, political, military, etc. programs/benefits for the Greenlanders. In return the United States becomes even richer and more powerful than ever before.

I would further bet that even as we speak there are already clandestine “talks” that are already going on between Trump’s representatives and those of Egede. If it turns out as I predict, just remember that you heard it here first. Deal?
