Essentially the question asked was how would Harris pay for her economic plan without ballooning the federal budget deficit by an additional $3 trillion over a decade, as per (non-partisan) Committee for Responsible Federal Budget. However, her answer which is a combination of increasing personal tax levied on select individuals and granting tax credits on some others in order to make it "fair" is wrong, according to O'Leary.
In other words it is not about "fairness", it's about justifying the resulting increased burden upon the taxpayers themselves who are supposed to be the beneficiaries of the plan. The correct answer? Grow the economy. Now that creates a new problem for the incumbent VP -- she obviously does not have any plan for that.
